Abstract

ln this paperwe analyse the contents oftwo mathematical papers ofOtto de Alencar Silva (187 4-1912) ''Alguns erros de Mathematica na Synthese Subfectiva de A. Cornte ", published in 1898, and "Quelques erreurs de Comte ", published in 1901. We given special attention to thése papers in the context of the modem history of brazilian exact science, because contain the first criticisms from a brazilian mathematician to mathematical works of A. Comte (1798-1857). In fact, these papers of Otto de Alencar Silva are the first against the influ????nce of the Cornte positivism on Brazilian exact science.
