Abstract
ln this work the purpose is to present some of the most important aspects ofthe Cartesian philosophy and physics. We intend is to present some ofthe most important aspects of the Cartesian philosophy and physics. We intend to give a general survey of René Descartes' life and work. He was racionalist phylosopher. His racionalism was characterized by a dualism of matter and mind and by a mecanist vision of the Universe. ln Descartes' work we can find conflictious aspects oscilating between reason and faith, between science and religion. The principal importance of the Cartesian metaphysics and his physical explanation of the world is that they represent the beginning of the philosophy ofthe modem times, the ascending bourgeoisie's philosophy and science.
