A construção do conhecimento psicológico na obra história do predestinado peregrino e seu irmão precito (1682) de Alexandre de Gusmão S.J
Abstract
The most important characteristic of popular Christian devotion in European medieval times was pilgrimage. lt is a way of thinking human life that deserves to be studied specially by the Historians of the Psychological ldeas. On the Brazilian culture of the seventeenth century we can see this old tradition reformulated by an eminent Jesuit named Alexandre de Gusmão. His História do Predestinado Peregrino e seu Irmão Precito (1682) is full of references on the religious tradition of the pilgrimage as an allegory of the human experience. ln a special way, the author articulates, in his story of a pilgrimage, Aristotle's Ethics viewed on the perspective of the new scholastic ideas. Gusmão shows how to behave during the journey in this world and the way to look for the truth that brings man back to God's home. So he gives to Historians of the Science a key to understand the Jesuit's way of thinking man and his relationship with fellows, nature and divinity on the seventeenth century.
