Os periódicos portugueses de Inglaterra e a cultura científica brasileira (1808-1821)
Abstract
Brazilian scientific culture had, during the period in which the Portuguese court was in Brazil (1808-1821), a surprising irruption. In addition to the appearance of several periodicals that took care to disseminate scientific facts, giving an unprecedented consistency to Brazilian scientific culture. Among the periodicals that circulated here, addressing scientific issues, there are two that were added in England: O Correio Braziliense and O Investigador Português. This text analyzes the role played by these newspapers in the constitution of scientific culture in the years that D. João remained in Brazil.
