The study provides a definition of “contemporary scientific archives”, which comprises two very different entities: archives produced by the research administration and documents produced by the research activity itself. However, vestiges of science evolve and change mainly because of the growth of digital networks. Nowadays, it is convenient to ask which vestiges of science should necessarily be maintained, in order to increase this heritage, which is of primer importance.
