Abstract

The aim of this paper is to reconstruct the history of Ciência para Todos (‘Science for All’) – a science supplement published from 1948 to 1953 in the Brazilian newspaper A Manhã (‘The Morning’) – and to understand its meaning for the history of science and science communication in Brazil. For that purpose, we delineated the context in which this initiative was created, identified its main authors, described and analyzed its contents and its evolution. The repercussion of that supplement, and the profile of its readers are also discussed. The analysis intended to identify the motivations of the main authors, as well as the image of science, and of the scientists transmitted by the supplement.
