  • The text does not contain the identification of the authors. In Microsoft Office documents, the authorship identification must be removed from the document properties.

  • The paper does not contain plagiarism or self-plagiarism. Any plagiarism or self-plagiarism identified will result in the article being immediately rejected.

Author Guidelines

The Revista Brasileira de História da Ciência publishes every six months original articles, essays, book reviews; annotated transcripts and translations from inaccessible primary sources; and interviews. Its primary mission is to disseminate original, unpublished and quality works in the area of History of Science and Technology, recognizing the importance of its relationship with the fields of Philosophy, Sociology and Science Teaching. Papers in Portuguese, English, French and Spanish are accepted.

Thesis/dissertation summaries are not accepted. All articles derived from thesis/dissertations must present their own coherence and completeness, without depending on the reading of the original source.

The opinions expressed in any contribution published in RBHC do not necessarily reflect those of the Editors, members of the Scientific Advisory Board or Sociedade Brasileira de História da Ciência (Board, Deliberative Council or associates in general), and are always responsibility of their authors.

If approved in the preliminary editorial review, which determines whether any contributions will be considered for publication, they are submitted to two experts for evaluation (except in the case of submissions to Reviews, Documents and Sources, Interviews, Letters, and Translation sections, which may be accepted by editorial act). In case of divergence between the referees, the work will be sent to a third evaluator.

The evaluation process follows the double-blind regime, and takes an average of four months between the submission of the article and the final decision. In the case of topics where there is little availability of specialists, authors should be aware that the evaluation time can be significantly extended.

The Editors will always give the final decision regarding the publication of contributions received.

The Editors reserve the right to introduce minor changes in the writing and presentation of the originals approved for publication, in order to maintain the uniformity and quality of the journal, respecting the style and opinions of the authors.

Authors who had articles accepted for publication must wait 1 year to submit a new article, counting from the date of submission of the previous article.
