Abstract

In Brazil, State Solid Physics (SSP) includes most part of physicists. However, its history is incipient when compared to other branches, as Physics of Particles. In this work we investigate how this research area was established, based on the research groups and the creation of research centers or institutes which allow its consolidation. As main research object, we investigate the creation and establishment of the Centre of Research and Development (CPqD). The CPqD was responsible for the research and development of devices to telecommunications to be used in the State Company of Telecommunications (EMBRATEL).
