The reorganization of the National Atomic Energy Commission under the Neoliberal State in Argentina

This article aims to analyze the concept of scientific management policies promoted by Carlos S. Menem through the case of the attempted privatization of the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA) in 1994. While the former has be characterized by a set of contradictory and erratic throughout the period measures, it is important to shed light on the place that government allocated to science in the national project posed . Moreover, those ambiguities are reflected in the wording of Decree 1540/94, a legal instrument by which the institutional division of CNEA was regulated. The objective of this policy is to facilitate the privatization of their original functions. While the passage to private management was never carried out, the reform was a major impact on scientific and technical nuclear community
