Little is known about how science is problematized in China. If science does not constitute a foreign dimension to the way society’s thought manifests itself, turning one’s attention to philosophy is crucial to progress on the scientific matter. However, the West, as a general rule, ignores a great part of Chinese philosophical tradition or misinterprets it. Acknowledging this fact, this article seeks to analyze the contributions of three important intellectuals, Marcel Granet, Karine Chemla and Christoph Harbsmeier, so as to put them in dispute in the realm of sinology. By doing so, we intend to surpass western prejudices regarding the inexistence of a legitimate science in China.
