Abstract

During the deployment phase of the Brazilian textile industry, the production focused the market of coarse fabrics, which did not require improved products. When the competition with foreign fabrics demanded an improvement of products, the absence of craftsmanship past experience and low investment in professional development to support project activity was felt. This article discusses how this condition promoted the installation of imitative procedures in textile design.
