Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro (1915-1931)

This paper examines the Botanical Garden´s scientific production between 1915 and 1931. During this period the institution was administered by Antonio Pacheco Leão. The most salient features of this administration were greater diversification of activities and distribution of scientific functions. Under the direction of Pacheco Leão, the institution had focused on issues of national importance, such as the introduction of scientific techniques in agriculture and knowledge about Brazilian nature. The purpose of this work is to identify the main personalities, the study objects and scientific specialties prioritized in the researches in the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro in the mentioned period.
