Abstract

On the present study are presented the results of the research that had the objective of analyze the process of construction and consolidation of Science and Technology (C&T) in Brazil, between the decades of 1970 and 1990. From the analysis of a series of the documents deposited in the Museum of Astronomy and Similar Science (MAST) – scientists personal and institutional files –, it was possible identifying that the campaign of preservation of the scientific heritage organized by the group of researches from the National Observatory, which culminated in the creation of the MAST, it was the conducting wire to pointing the detachment of the public powers with the Science and Technology matters, that way like the movement of the groups linked to the Science and Technology in front of public policies for that area during the process of change negotiated for the return of Brazil to the democratic regime. As a result, we conclude that the construction of the scientific heritage was related to the statement of the Science and Technology like fundamental to the economic, politic and social growth of the country.
