Concept of peripheral science in natural sciences in Bahia

This article aims to highlight, within an approach in history of science, the concept of peripheral science, regarding the scientific production in Bahia, Brazil, during the second half of the twentieth century. Initially it focuses on a brief discussion about central science and peripheral science, with the purpose to identify through from researchers the oral report, how happened the science evolution in Bahia in several fields as Agricultural Sciences, Physics, Chemistry and Health Sciences. The research also stronger a stream within the current historiography of science, known as Brazilian regional science history, using the assumptions of Social History, which promotes analysis on the History of Science in regions characterized as less developed.
