Abstract

José Bonifácio de Andrada e Silva became famous in the field of historiography due to his performance in the Brazilian political sphere. However, he was a renowned mineralogist and managed important mining bodies in the Portuguese Empire, such as the General Intendency of Mines and Metals of the Kingdom, locus of knowledge production, where he produced several studies that have remained unpublished to this day. One of them was the Memory on Public Administration of Mining In Electorate of Saxony, S.A., S.L., which can be found among his manuscripts at the Museu Paulista Archive and that we decided to publish it now, given its importance for the Luso- Brazilian History of Science.
