Essay on the term “vulgarização científica” in 19th century Brazil

The article has as its main goal a reconstruction of the history behind the term in Portuguese “vulgarização científica”, which is known in English as public understanding of science. The study of the case of the term can help us better analyze the social processes that have led to the construction, in particular the institutionalization of science all over the world, and more specifically the 19th century Brazil.
