the EAB-EMTP and agronomy in Brazil (1911-1917)

Abstract

The aim of this text is to develop a study on the Escola Agrícola de São Bento das Lages ou Escola Médio-Teórico Prática de Agricultura (EAB-EMTP), in São Francisco do Conde (1911-1917), Bahia, regarding works developed by professors and students of EAB, especially those in the journal called “O Agrôno- mo”. Through these works, as well as through the analysis of other sources, such as reports, laws, articles and their relationship and interaction with the political and scientific environment, we believe that it is possible to establish this school’s strategic role in the process of institu- tionalization of agronomy as a scientific field in Bahia and in Brazil.
