Abstract

In this paper we examine the role of academic and scientific engineers of Pará in the context of the founding of the first School of Engineering Pará. For this, we analyze the historical period between 1874 and 1931, which corresponds to inferior landmark creation of the Polytechnic School of Rio de Janeiro, March and top refers to the creation of the School of Engineering Para. Furthermore, we analyze some previous educational institutions and also the official discourses present in reports and messages provincial government to identify the need for training these Professional set up and contributed to the consolidation of the category. The creation of the School Para took the initiative of local engineers who assumed the roles of teachers and administrators of the institution, and mostly studied in Rio de Janeiro. Thus, we must examine this school curricular in order to identify possible elements of connection with the School established in Pará and contribute to the historiography of the sciences in the Amazon.
